Sunflowers in Sunny Queensland Hot Tips




If you travel west of Brisbane, towards Toowoomba and Warwick, you are sure to find some of the most beautiful, bright scenery. Rollings hills of greenery sprinkled with drops of sun for miles and miles. Mesmerising.


The best route to see the sunflowers outside Brisbane is Tourist Route 11 - Sunflower Route. It's approximately 50km long between Warwick and Toowoomba, and is the most fertile farming land.

Sunflowers are in bloom December - March, they're summer babies

Wear appropriate shoes - gumboots are best after rain

You're walking through farming fields, so you don't want to wear your best shoes. Also, if it's been raining, you are going to want to be wearing gumboots.


Be mindful & respectful of your surroundings

Respecting the property and roads of the farmers is super important. Drive safely. Respect their property and do not trespass. Checking out the above information pages will let you know when the farmers have opened their fields to the public.




Bring the right gear

Be sure to pack gardening gloves, gardening scissors, and a basket to carry your sunflowers home in. Warraba Sunflowers lets you take as many sunflowers home as you like with your ticket entry. We saw people bringing bags and baskets and filling them to the brim!


Additionally, there are plenty of friendly creatures around the fields of sunflowers including spiders, snakes, and bees. So, dress appropriately and be alert. Wear a hat and sunscreen, we left a little cooked from the sun. Annnd long sleeves help protect from any sap irritation.


Make the most of your day

There is plenty to see and do in the areas around the sunflowers. Why not pop into Warwick or Toowoomba and have lunch at one of the local cafes? Or search for a water hole to cool of in? Explore one of the national parks? Plenty of options to see and do, while you make the most of your sunny Queensland adventure.
